Legal Separation

Sad man because of Utah Legal SeparationUtah Legal Separation
A Utah Legal separation is the legal process in which a couple can separate, and get an order in place that can include custody, domestic support, division of assets, division of debt, etc., but when it's all said and done the parties are still technically married.

There are several reasons why a couple might do this, they intend to get back together, one of the parties relies on the other for insurance purposes, financially it makes more sense to stay married but the relationship is no longer working, religious purposes, etc.  Normally when parties file for a Utah legal separation, they don't have any intention to re-marry at some point. Therefore, often times older couples will opt for a legal separation instead of a divorce, and more often than not it's for insurance purposes.

The process for a Utah legal separation is the same as it is for a divorce, see our divorce page to learn more about the process and your various options.  But whether you end up filing for a Utah divorce or a Utah legal separation, your attorney at Pearson Law Firm can help you every step of the way.  Contact Pearson Law Firm today for a free consultation with an experienced Utah Divorce Attorney/Legal Separation Attorney, 801-888-0991.
